Cleft Chestnut Fencing
Cleft chestnut is stunning rustic looking hardwood fencing, made from sustainable harvested naturally durable local timber. Sweet Chestnut is a hard wood and famous for its extraordinary strength, which is highly durable and long lasting. Cleft timber is professionally split along the grain rather than sawing through the fibres. The Cleft Chestnut we supply is milled and processed by professional contractors into bespoke and “off-the-shelf” products.
Chestnut Coppice is 100% sustainable. Our suppliers harvest and process all our products from well-managed local woodlands. Interesting and great to know; the cut stools from the coppiced wood regrow at a vigorous rate, sucking up far more carbon dioxide than a newly planted tree. When harvested properly, these lovely trees can be harvested in rotation for many years to come.
Cleft Chestnut Fencing is also sometimes referred to as Sussex Fencing. It is similar to post and heavy rail fencing, but provides a beautifully rustic finish to any home or agricultural location. Cleft chestnut fencing is a traditional form of fencing which blends naturally with its surroundings and is sympathetic to the environment. The Rails are 9′ 6″ and shaped at both ends to fit into wooden mortised posts.
Well done guys! Excellent job!!! I really can’t praise you enough, and what a tidy job you did.
Really happy with the lovely fence you have created for us, and we’d like to thank you for your hard work.
Geoff has put numerous stock fences up for us and his work is always first class. We’d happily recommend Chariot Fencing to anyone looking for a professional fencer.
Cleft Chestnut Fencing Advantages
- Exceptionally attractive fence
- Rustic, natural and some serious curb appeal – because it is an all-natural fence, it provides an option for those looking to be environmentally friendly with their choice of fencing. The Chestnut is also durable, far more so than many other softwood styles of fencing, meaning it will last.
- Chestnut lasts longer than all other common fence timbers in the UK – The Chestnut is full of natural tannin, which is a tree’s natural preservative, and has very little sapwood. This makes the Chestnut an ideal fencing material as it is incredibly resistant to rot. It is also commonly available throughout the UK, making it the perfect choice for an all-natural, long lasting form of fencing for any purpose.
- An expensive option, but worth every penny – Long lasting, classical, beautiful and helpful to the environment, Cleft Chestnut Fencing provides everything you need for a beautiful fence.
